I mean, the reason Skype wasn't used very much was because those of us who were admins back in my day finally drilled it into people that official business couldn't be discussed there without record. (Yes, I know you can scroll back in time on Skype, that doesn't mean there's appropriate record of communication) Plus, it limits decisions to the people who happen to be present, while leaving out admins who happen not to be there at the time a decision is made.
For this reason, Slack or any other instant-messaging client are dangerous to this community, if for no other reason than it allows decisions to be made too quickly. If we are at a stage when posting an idea on the forum and allowing it to meditate for a day or two, and allow all staff and veterans who want to comment time to comment (I bring up veterans because there's a reason the founders didn't close the RhB to vets) then we're in a scary place indeed.
