Minecraft name: Arktis
What do you like the most about redstone?: How we can create real world electrical systems (shift registers, adders, ALU’s, CPU’s, etc.) from redstone. It adds a new level of understanding to these devices to build them yourself and understand the inner workings of them on a fundamental level.
What's a thing you have made which demonstrates redstone knowledge?: 8 bit binary -> BCD converter (arbitrarily extendable)
What does the thing do?: Converts 8 bit binary to 3 decimal digit BCD. Arbitrarily extendable at cost of 6 ticks/bit. Quite slow, but quite compact compared to tick efficient designs.
Image/s and/or video/s of the device, from imgur.com or youtube.com:

What do you plan on making for your build trial?: A smaller version of this, 4 bit binary to BCD + explanation of double-dabble, without the BCD->7seg display.
Do you agree with the rules?: Yes, of course.
