As a bit of an addendum to what RSW said:
I can't speak for others of course, but personally I prefer using redstone because I enjoy the challenge of trying to build a device that does exactly what I want as fast and as small as possible. With command blocks, that sort of challenge just isn't present, and it becomes more like a jigsaw puzzle - just figuring out where each block should go so that it works as a whole.
More on topic though: I will say that so far it looks interesting. I don't think you could deny that at the very least someone would need a fair bit of computer knowledge to build something like this. I'm just gonna sit back and watch how it progresses for now.
