Yes, signal strength based. I know 'analogue' isn't strictly the correct term but it works well enough.

I haven't fully tested it in the latest Minecraft versions yet and, as it was built on a server, need to wait for the owner to send me the world. It's also very slow - but yes, I could make a video.

I'm not sure I entirely understand the process - am I supposed to build my build trial beforehand or create the entire design during the trial?

You will be given about 1 hour to create something during the trial, so you should aim to make something small but something that shows your knowledge. We ask for pictures to make sure that the person applying has built something before. Often people build an ALU for their trial - that is one of the most common trials I see.

If I build a 4-bit analogue adder in my trial, doesn't that mean I shouldn't have built one before, and so can't show you...? Or am I misunderstanding?
