As someone who bought a laptop very similar to both of those (specifically from MSI), I'd recommend *strongly* against both of those, at least as an only laptop. While having an i7 and a reasonable graphics card is nice, buying one of those is committing to lugging a huge, (relatively) fragile laptop around for at least a year or more every. single. day.
I know my 17"er didn't even fit in my backpack as a start, we had to modify the laptop pouch.
It's bad enough that despite spending $1200 a year ago I'm currently on the market for another laptop that I can actually bring places without hating myself.
If I can impart anything useful, let it simply be that you take a good hard look at what you need and consider what you buy will be your life (and the burden of your back) for years to come.
