I have made with himehiwareu a 4 wide inverter that is controled to invert when a line is turn on using compactors.

How can it be one tick? Unless you're using an instant inverter for the write on the comparator. I designed a system using comparators for a 1 tick inverter not too long ago, but the instant inverter made it rather bulky. Though, I was going for a 2 wide design. Could you post some pictures?
The compactor is doing the inverting nothing else. 2 compactors and a control line I will show you it on build later or post some picks.
It's 4 wide for the 1 tick 2ticks for 3 wide because of the compacting needing a repeater.

Oh I get the bit bout the inverter type, Yes a selectable inverter or to be precise a XOR.
It only has 2 compactors and 8 peaces or redstone in the 1 tick one that is 4 wide 5 wide stack ablbe.
And 2 compactors ,12 redstone and one repeater in the 2 tick one that is 3 wide and stager able. Yes but it was not made to be an XOR but I may have propers 1 tick xor in a different design

If it's 2 ticks for three wide, then just use a 2 wide 2 tick XOR gate... I thought you meant it would actually be 1 tick, 4 wide is not impressive... I had an idea for a 2 wide 1 tick inverter, maybe I will continue working on that project.

An inverter. This is a very good system but I'm just sticking to the XOR.

The difference between an inverter and a regular XOR is that one input is shared for each bit. It's not a very significant difference, but there are some designs that lose stackability or speed when used as a typical XOR gate, which makes them not ideal for that function. Also, in some inverters, it may take 2-4 ticks to change states from regular to inverted, but only 1-2 ticks for data to pass through in either state.

If you use a 2 wide 2 tick XOR, it would be better than your 3 wide 2 tick inverter.
