What do you like the most about redstone?: It's red! (everything else is just icing on the cake :Þ)
What's a thing you have made which demonstrates redstone knowledge?: Hmm, many things, but I'll talk about my most recent project, my ALU, albeit unfinished.
What does the thing do?: Well, it's an ALU! What do ALUs do? Math and other binary operations!
Okay so, here's the thing itself (bear with me as we deal with Imgur's image compression).
I basically improvised the whole design (and am paying for it). It's eight bits and is only missing force carry reset, and force carry set (or cut carry and flood carry, to each, their own).
It all started with an XNOR that I made.
Thought to myself, "Hey, this is pretty fast, and it has an easily accessible AND output! I should make something out of this!", and you can guess the result.
I then hacked on an instant ripple-carry line.
(I am a sucker for instant-action redstone.)
...the design of the carry line in itself is making is near-impossible, if not impossible, to add the carry reset and set to it, so I'm scrapping this design and most likely going to start on a design the revolves around 1-wide gates -- and probably kill myself on the carry line for it as well.
Oh yea, and here's eight 0.5 tick full adders that I made.
Eight bits, complete with carry and things, all in less than 1 tick. Speed never felt so good. 8)
I'm sure you could imagine the throughput issues (I think it takes like 16 ticks to reset), and massive lag from using it in general, though. :L
Oh god, and don't let me even begin on the carry line resetting after something like 255 + 1.
Not the best of designs, but it works! :v
I could also go on about the many, many other things I've made (probably want to as well :x) but I think this is satisfactory?
