Help in serial?!?

The thing that is difficult about serial is that the timing is a nightmare to work with. I built a serial decoder and encoder for a SIPO (serial in-parallel out) shift register I was using, so they can be pretty useful. They get big pretty quick, so keeping them compact is the real challenge.
