Time to get to work guys (and gals), personally I'm going to mess around with it and see what sort of RAM / registers can be made. Hard to predict impact at this time, any ideas?

RE: New slime block mechanic with snapshot. - jxu - 04-30-2014

Perfect timing, redstone activity was stalling.

RE: New slime block mechanic with snapshot. - Chibill - 04-30-2014

I see fast decoders or a fast bit shifter

RE: New slime block mechanic with snapshot. - Xray_Doc - 04-30-2014

This guy has a really think German accent.

RE: New slime block mechanic with snapshot. - Chibill - 04-30-2014

Not really. I have talked to him and some of the zipKrowd on there team speak.

RE: New slime block mechanic with snapshot. - Xray_Doc - 05-01-2014

My opinion is fact.

Looking forward to making a thrusting dick with the slime blocks. I-I mean something productive.

RE: New slime block mechanic with snapshot. - Legofreak - 05-01-2014

I need them! when is the server going to update to this version?

RE: New slime block mechanic with snapshot. - Chibill - 05-01-2014

Not till 1.8 comes out and bukkit updates.
?

RE: New slime block mechanic with snapshot. - jxu - 05-01-2014

You can make some crazy piston tapes with these

RE: New slime block mechanic with snapshot. - EDevil - 05-01-2014

3x3 Doors will be super easy from now on. Hoeraay!

RE: New slime block mechanic with snapshot. - Jallen - 05-01-2014

Dual read BUD piston registers now super easy I think. Will post an attempt latter this evening (I'm on the train at the mo)

RE: New slime block mechanic with snapshot. - Nuuppanaani - 05-01-2014

But first and foremost, imagine all the flying machines silly Ore members are going to build!

RE: New slime block mechanic with snapshot. - AFtExploision - 05-02-2014

Inb4 ORE labels slime blocks not real redstone and bans them and looks down upon those who use

RE: New slime block mechanic with snapshot. - jxu - 05-02-2014

inb4 slime blocks are treated like comparators, some people use them but they're not really developed fully

RE: New slime block mechanic with snapshot. - Jallen - 05-02-2014

The come with tileability issues galore, but I'm pretty close to getting there with some relatively tiny registers

Comparators are the greatest thing to happen to redstone since repeaters were added.

fukin hate comparators............. they need to be instant like they use to be -.-

You have offended me sir.

Comparators may be slow but they do amazing things.

RE: New slime block mechanic with snapshot. - PabloDons - 05-02-2014

can we have a whitelisted vanilla server for snapshots like these? or is that a big no-no? I imagine many people will be interested considering the general response to this thread

RE: New slime block mechanic with snapshot. - Xray_Doc - 05-02-2014

I would wait until they are less glitchy. Also, I think it would have to be run by someone apart from the server.

RE: New slime block mechanic with snapshot. - Chibill - 05-02-2014

I can run one. Plus with the new commands you basically have built in simple WE.

we can actually use an interface created by wubbiconcepts where you can easily copy and paste. unfortunately it won't work for individual players, but it's pretty good

Pff I'm not silly Big Grin
Oh and I've proven that a 2x2x11 RAM cell with these works.

Here's some things I've made so far:

I've proven that arbitrarily large "doors" are do-able. Which means basically you can make any size airships (two directional). Though I'm thinking submarines would be more interesting Tongue

RE: New slime block mechanic with snapshot. - WrytXander - 05-03-2014

Submarines would be very nice! Or stuff like "space elevators" (omg sorry) and user-controlled flying devices (planes) are super cool concepts!

RE: New slime block mechanic with snapshot. - Chibill - 05-04-2014

I will setup the server today. I will update it with every snapshot too. Its IP is minecraft16.us.to:25545

Do pistons mean nothing to you?

RE: New slime block mechanic with snapshot. - EDevil - 05-04-2014

Pistons are one of the best things ever made in mc! However, once you start doing some real advanced logical redstoning, like making nice fast cpu's or try to pipeline at some amazing speed, you just need to move on to piston-less builds.

(also if you want to have your creation working after 2 years, its best to not use pistons as well Tongue (Yet again, some solid state things might change in the future as well, like the comparator -> repeater lock combo.))

Eeh, speed and future functionality really depend on the design. Most everything I've built with pistons since they were introduced still functions as intended. And if you get good enough at usin' 'em, they can be just as fast as piston-less builds.

I can't actually connect, chi. is there a problem?

RE: New slime block mechanic with snapshot. - Chibill - 05-05-2014

I did not have time to set it up got home to late.

I will do it today I have no homework.

RE: New slime block mechanic with snapshot. - Chibill - 05-07-2014

On and up to date.

RE: New slime block mechanic with snapshot. - JWNJWN - 05-07-2014

How're you going to combat flying machines that fly into other peoples stuff and destroys some of it?

have some sort of minimum flying altitude for everybody or something of the sort?

My first thought is to disallow pistons from pushing slime blocks outside of their owner's plot bounds.

It's really the other way around: the challenge has always been to get pistonless builds to be as fast as piston builds (ex. CLE vs instacarry, xor gates). Pistons always have the advantage of instant block moving (the instant they move the block they're pushing/pulling becomes nonsolid)

RE: New slime block mechanic with snapshot. - Neogreenyew - 05-13-2014

Oh wow that's cool... it's a shame they haven't cared to fix pistons first. Get ready for even more piston related bullshit. All the pros realize that solid-state is the way to go anyway.

I like how in every off-topic thread, suddenly we're speaking on-topic again
edit: woops, posted in the wrong thread xD

RE: New slime block mechanic with snapshot. - Chibill - 05-14-2014

Why pistons are not derpy anymore and are now better (when used with slimeblocks) even faster redstone wires with out insta-wire. Also this makes some forms of pistion tape memory better. ( might even triple the size of old ones when added in some places)
