It's a game that tries to match the real market as closely as possible. The game works by updating the virtual prices to match the real market prices by a 5 minute delay iirc. For learning purposes, you can see what other people invest in and see how well it goes for them. Everyone starts with $1000 in virtual cash, and they can borrow another $1000 if they are willing to pay interest on it (Not really recommended). For each stock transaction, buying or selling, it costs virtual $10. No real money is involved, it's just for fun and/or practice. The game starts today, May 27th, and ends next month, June 27th.

Some tips:
  • Don't log in with real info, the website doesn't use SSH for some reason.
  • The market is only open monday to friday, 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. EST. You can queue a transaction for when the market is open again, but until then, nothing happens.
  • Don't panic if you are in a negative right off the bat. Paying the transaction fee for buying will immediately put you in the red until your stock prices rise. Selling stocks costs $10, which may make the problem worse, not better.
  • Again, buying stocks costs $10, so trying to get quick cash by day trading won't work well, especially since $1000 way too small to day trade with.
  • Don't be afraid to ask for help. Voltz and I have played the game once, and we both made money somehow. IDK if Voltz is participating this time, but I'm sure other players have good advice too
  • There are no rules besides the ones marketwatch imposes. Get rekt son!
Feel free to ask questions, brag, and lament on this thread.

Glad to have you Chibill Big Grin Any advice on how to succeed, or is your plan top secret?

@Nuup, why don't you join anyways to learn? I'm no pro at this either, I just read the financial sheet for random companies, see what they do and how well they do it. It mostly involves researching, rather than just guessing and getting lucky imho. But if you still don't want to play, that's ok Smile

I just pick the ones I know go up. And go all the way with them.

Looks like JWN made a good choice with Big Lots, he invested $420 and earned $13.36 in 3 days. If you minus the $10 he spent to get it, that's still a respectable $3 profit. Of course, he still needs it to go up if he ever wants to sell it. I wonder if it can keep going up? Looks like apple is failing everyone else so far though. There is still time for it to go up though. Pretty interesting Smile
