What is a gpu - EDevil - 09-01-2013
Quite simple. I've seen peeps with only a screen hooked up, and screaming that they've build themselves a gpu. Personally, i think this is just a bunch of bullshit. I can hook up a screen to my cpu as well, and then it becomes a gpu?!? I would describe it more as an output device, rather a fully gpu. But when is a gpu a gpu?

When it provides hardware-accelerated graphics. For instance, (hollow) box rendering on a typical minecraft GPU is extremely fast because everything is done in parallel.

I GPU is a thing that makes drawing complex stuff to a screen ez it lets you just say draw a box thus big here and the GPU does but a GPU can also just be a special thing inbetween a screen and a cpu that makes using the screen faster or ez.
