New, Compact 1.5 Tick XOR and XNOR! - CMOSprinkles - 08-29-2013

Hello everyone! For the last few days, I've put my mind hard at work trying to come up with a 1.5 tick XOR gate using pistons, and the result is better than I had hoped for. A 1.5 tick XNOR was also born of the attempt, so I am quite pleased! There are two separate bits that need to be alternated to stack next to each other, and without further ado, here are some specs:

Dimensions: XOR - 6L*2W*6H; XNOR - 6L*2W*6H
Speed: 1.5 Ticks
Signal Strength: XOR accepts minimum 5 signal strength in and XNOR accepts minimum 4 signal strength in. They both output at 12 signal strength in the worst case scenario.

Now, on with the pictures!

There you have it, some pretty compact 1.5 tick gates! Sorry for the barrage of pictures, here is a world download too. Let me know what you think!

I briefly had access to a computer at my dad's house ;D

:-) and also i am leaving a chest on your plot for you. also you should look at Newegg to build you own Good PC that is fast and won't kill itself.

RE: New, Compact 1.5 Tick XOR and XNOR! - CMOSprinkles - 08-29-2013

Thank you Chibill! I'll try to get on the server today before I leave my dad's house. Also. I might be getting a new computer soon as a hand-me-down.

Also, I'm going to put these designs up on my plot along with my Instant DFF if I have time.

RE: New, Compact 1.5 Tick XOR and XNOR! - Chibill - 08-29-2013

I have not put the chest yet as it is 2:51 and i just got out of school and have homework.

RE: New, Compact 1.5 Tick XOR and XNOR! - CMOSprinkles - 08-29-2013

No problem, I'll actually have computer access for a few days, so I will be popping on the server from time to time. These gates and my Instant DFF can now be found on my plot, so check it out people!

I have left the chest.

Huh, this looks similar to my first attempts at building a vertical XOR gate. The piston and repeater bit is the same, actually. Nice work at figuring it out. Smile

RE: New, Compact 1.5 Tick XOR and XNOR! - CMOSprinkles - 08-30-2013

Thanks Thor! There were many different designs that I had to throw out before I finally settled on this one. I was very pleased actually, the original designs were around 8*2*7, so this final product is much more compact being only 6 long and 6 tall. Also, I'm currently working on an 8 bit 4 tick adder using these gates, so look forward to it!

RE: New, Compact 1.5 Tick XOR and XNOR! - CMOSprinkles - 08-30-2013

Adder is almost finished, prototype is built and it looks great! Seems to be about 15*18*6 for the whole 8 bits, I'll finish it at home today.

Oh wow! I had a 75% instant one, but yours beats the crap out of it (becouse it is not like 200 cubic meters :/ )

But yeah, our design concepts are same, I mean using pistons to block the signal, i was just not clever enough to use a repeater P:
