[POLL] What type of server do you like the most? - EDevil - 07-29-2013
This question leads to my current home situation. I've managed to get an professional HP server on which i am planning to do some minecraft hosting on. <- This was about 2 months ago. Problem at that time was that my connection was terrible, 8 down 1 up. However, now that i've switched isp, im only paying 10 bucks more for 150 mb down & 15 mb up. So i because my lack of originality, i cant figure out what type of server im going to be hosting, so i thought of asking the friendly players on the ORE server. What server-type do you like the most?
btw, for all of the hardcore nerds out there:
- HP Proliant DL380 G5
- 4 Quad cores running at 2.something
- 16 GB ram
- 2 HDD at 70 gig, these will run in raid 1 for the OS (Still debating if i want Ubuntu server or CentOS)
- 6 HDD at 300gig, which is pure overkill. Probably going to swap these SAS drives out to my own server, and replace them with some lighter storage solution. If i manage to fill atleast 3 bays, they will run in RAID 5 fcourse

I generally prefer pure survival where you can just build and do whatever. Some of the funnest experiences I've had with minecraft were on survival servers with friends back in the day. As long as there's no griefing (which is hard to do I know). Factions can also be fun sometimes too I guess.
