Pauly's Modded Server! - Nickster258 - 06-06-2014

Just launched the Unofficial Official ORE server for this modpack!

Join nickster258.us.to

Standard 25565 port.

If you find any issues specific with hosting, contact me by PM or finding me on any of the ORE servers.

Disclaimer: FTB servers are incredibly more taxing on the host server. I will be happy if it runs incredibly smoothly.

Server info:
Running current modpack with 12GB allocated. 3 GB is allocated for my private server and I want enough room elsewhere if I need it.
16GB RAM, Phenom II X6 1045T w/ 9MB cache. All of the network devices, including server, modem, and switch, are under a PSU which lasts for about 35 minutes without power.

UPDATE:

Charter, my ISP, has been having a few ping blips the last few days. Random spikes of ping from the usual 10 to around 150-900. Charter, however, confirms that this is only an temporary issue due to their recent switch to a completely digital network.

NEI crashing the client on our server is a know bug I am working on a simple fix.

Also I think in spawn we should set up the basic micheans. An a central power system.

And I agree to having something simple at spawn, but to have a power station, it should be provided by one of the members. I can setup a simple wireless charging station when I get my system setup.

A basic fix for NEI for now:
step 1: Go into an singleplayer world.
step 2: Search for shit in NEI over there.
step 3: leave singleplayer
step 4: Go to multiplayer

Now you can use NEI all you want.

Also, I've already been working quite a bit around spawn, with at least making the area safe to be in.
I've set up a wood farm, so if you need any, just ask me (or grab some if you know where to go).

why do we use such an old version of minecraft (1.5.2)? Sad

this is important, apparently, when I successfully installed the mods, my launcher was completely unable to load profiles and therefore I am unable to launch minecraft at all. I got some of the log, but I am unable to locate the full log:

I think the server may have crashed at 11:23 PM chicago time 6/9/14 I just got kicked with a connection error and can't reconnect.

But there was a long strip of chucks that would not load.

The worldholes are just something that you're gonna need to deal with.
As for the server, it seems to be up and running again.

Error blahdiblah...

The reason that we're using 1.5.2, is because I was sure that all the mods were compatible with that version. Also, after the modpack update voting period was done, I tried to port the mods to 1.6.4, after which it kept chashing, so I just went 'Fuck it. 1.5.2'. The improved crafting mechanic by Mojang was already introduced in that version, so I didn't give a damn.

As for the Error blahdiblah, it seems like there's something wrong with your profile list ([21:47:29 ERROR]: Unexpected exception refreshing profile list). Of course, I don't have any knowlage of that shit, except for that I know that that's where a list of all installed instances are stored, so you should look into it yourself.
FYI, restoring that file manually can be a pretty pain in the behind, so I'd just try opening it and looking for anything out of the ordinary.

EDIT: so the problem had something to do with the "launcher profiles" json file, luckily I actually made a backup when I was trying to get the installer to recognize my custom directory as a valid installation of minecraft, I copied that file into the main directory and all was good

Sorry about that, I was at work.

Fixed the server, simple crash and just re-ran the start command. I will later add a simple script that will make it so that when the server crashes again, it will restart itself.

I //might// (I repeat, MIGHT!) be able to get our pack on the FTB Launcher!
I have a (IRL) friend that is a modder, and currently helps out Pahimar with EE4(You didnt hear that) and temporary took over ChickenBones's mods.

He plays on the Forgecraft server, if friends with the modders and such, and thus, I might be able to get out pack on the FTB launcher via him.

I think we have a good chance as we have a quite big community, so, yeah.

That would be AWESOME. Mainly because FTB hosting is much MUCH better than vanilla.

I suggest writing the script that relaunches the server whenever it crashes as fast as possible because the server really is suffering a lot of crashes and it is annoying to have to wait until the next day or so before playing again.

If you haven't figured it out yet, the server crashed again

If you hadn't noticed, the server crashes on a daily basis. Most of the time I just ask if nick can fix it, and then he does, but today nick seems to be rather dead.

He has tried to give me SSH access, but until hasn't quite done it (can't use the login blahdiblah that he as provided to me).

Also, nick was already thinking about making one of these scripts, but first has to figure out how to make it before he can make it. It'll probably be implemented soon.

Yes, server is relaunched. I keep having to relaunch it over some issue. I have no clue what it is because there is no crash report or anything, it simply becomes on responsive.

I'd say the current priority would be setting us up with a better launcher, so that it'll be easier to push the updates.

Also I still need the fucking ssh access to nicks server, since previous attempts have failed.

I feel like after we've done all this, we can start considering adding mods.
