I think the /whois command should be disable because look at what it gives you.

it even gives out your public IP which could be used to hack you or even get your passwords and stuff.

No. Absolutely not. Even using IRC gives out your public address. Skype gives out your public address. It is literally that- your public address. If your network can be cracked that simply, it has no business on the internet, and it's already ridden with worms. (Literally.)

As for privacy @ geolocation, that's generally only accurate to within a certain region. I don't view this as a problem, but that's a matter of opinion.

Reddy has it spot on. Your external IP can be traced to whichever node it last hits before going to the main lines. Usually tracing the external IP will be accurate to whichever county you live in, depending on the size of your county.

Also I could pull your IP just from you logging on to a minecraft server. Your IP can also be pulled from having skype or by going on IRC. You don't even have to be logged in for someone to pull it. That's what got me DDoS'd back when I was the leaderboards in runescape. :3
