In accurat acornyme - mcblockserilla - 06-03-2017 Hey so i came across this server on google looking for a group of red stone builders to learn from, and saw the acronym for the server name and your community seems to have a very different definition of open than i do, and was looking for some clarification. your servers are not open since an application is needed to even join. this contradicts the very first word in the acronym. also iv been told that your server only works with computing. this also contradicts the acronym, since only computing devices are made. when i questioned this I was met with hostility, and was accused of "telling you how to name your server." attacking me, not my point. when i merely pointed out a logical flaw in the wording. my question is, What does open mean to this community? (I understand why you have to filter people to help preserve server resources, and fully respect that decision. it makes logistical sense. I also acknowledge that the mod may have been upset at something else, and assumed i was hostile, when i am just confused.) RE: In accurat acornyme - LordDecapo - 06-03-2017 the open refers to open-source. its a server that encourages people to work together on stuff and if 1 person makes a new smaller, better design... everyone can have access and use it in whatever they want, as long as they give proper credit when asked. who was rude after that? RE: In accurat acornyme - LambdaPI - 06-03-2017 Also, we do any redstone, but mostly computational. So people are used to ORE being the computational redstone server. Most people here know more about computers than doors, so it created the computational standard. I'm pretty sure the original idea behind the name was because we don't lock down our staff structure like the RDF did(coughjessassincough), and we're much more transparent about that kinda stuff. |
