Upload it to imgur, get link from there. Use the "direct image link" which should end in a .jpg. png or other image formats

^Yes, use one of the BBCode choices from imgur.
BBCode should show the picture, Linked BBCode should show the picture but also make it a clickable link (taking the reader to imgur).

Maybe has an extra img tag in there? But who cares when they can see the picture? BTW: I dig the quote in your sig, but you do know that the source (Dijkstra) is disputed?
