This is a real photo, taken with an electron microscope.

Each black dot is a carbon atom.

technically, electron microscopes don't take photographs and im pretty sure that the red dots are the carbon atoms.

So a scanning electron microscope can "vizualize" things without color because the things being seen are smaller than visible wavelegths of light, the color IIRC is digitally added. If you think this is cool then I have to reccomend this video by smarter every day
