this is a hidden qr code that appears on the ground when it snows. the qr code says "Minecraft 1.9: The Combat Update"
as annoying as it may sound, this is probably why it took so long for Mojang to start releasing the next set of snapshots. In order to announce it this way. It is a probable hypothesis mainly because of the fact that lots of work has been done beforehand announced on twitter. There's been work on the boat, someone is even attempting to implement 2 seats along with other stuff. prepare for snapshots!

Plus, it will be the first update Microsoft has control over.

I haven't seen the contract, but I am pretty sure what is going on is Microsoft earns the revenue from the game and pays the mojang team. if they had control, they would most likely make minecraft 2, which didn't happen. Either way, the game isn't going to be worse, it's still the same people developing it. I don't get why there must be so much uproar about this bullshit

umm.. minecraft has a squeal planned.. if u didnt know. for like 2-3 years or so from now... they did the announcement that on PC and Xbox 1 (possible future PS4 release) there will be a minecraft 2, and that is all they said. i heard it when watching one of the press releases, but havent found much info on it at all.
The Adventure Update was included in that same talk btw, that is where the MC:2 came from, cause they are making it a new game on consoles,, prob so they can upgrade code to something better for the console.. i bet the version number on PC will just change to 2.0 and maybe a new launcher, but i bet the maps and stuff will still be compatible
and the contract between them is essentially the same as Microsoft and Bungie had during halo's 1,2,3,... after that microsoft took full control and had more dictation.. that being said.. Reach was THE BEST HALO OF ALL for designing custom maps with forge,... so the MS gaming team has atleast SOME experience with creating a good creative style game... but idk if how much they will really focus on that...
so ya that is my guess and ramble xD
