Mac is not bad for gaming. But keep in mind that the PC equivalence will be more versatile and cheaper.

Linux will be good for gaming soon. Steam machines are debian-based, and it is possible that the steam games for it may run on Linux PCs. Fingers crossed!

You can't play the once that are based on directX, no matter the version.
HOWEVER, you can stream games from a windows computer to your steam machine. And yes, that feature is already available.
