I require your help - David - 09-15-2014 I was in a discussion with a friend of mine (we're both Dutch) about the word 'timber'. She doesn't believe that it is a synonym for 'wood'. Could a Brit, American, Australian or an inhabitant of a country where they speak English confirm that this is actually the case? Then I'll make a photo of it and send it to her. Thanks! -David RE: I require your help - Tjakka5 - 09-15-2014 I think she's a pile of sticks. RE: I require your help - greatgamer34 - 09-15-2014 ill take the bait yeah timber is synonymous with the word wood. "I need some timber to build my new front porch" "I need some wood to build my new front porch" RE: I require your help - David - 09-15-2014 Thanks! RE: I require your help - Xray_Doc - 09-15-2014 Cock is a synonym for rooster And penis RE: I require your help - Legofreak - 09-17-2014 because, when you chop down a tree, yelling "TIMBER!" sounds better than yelling "WOOD!" Can't help but notice that "tomber" in French means "to fall". |
