Application - Sonofmetal - 09-07-2014

Minecraft name: SonOfMetal2

What do you like the most about redstone?:

Well... My favorite thing about redstone.... hmmm... Let me tell you a short story. When I was younger (around 5 - 7) I started to discover electronics... I also learned how to use them. Around the same time I got my laptop(which I still use today(it's old)). I kind of tinkered with things on it(mainly with programs I downloaded from the internet), and I really couldn't do much... Then I found programming... This caught my attention. I tried to learn EVERY little bit of it... I even tried Assembly. Most of the programming languages I discovered, I tinkered around with... But I eventually lost interest. This was because I didn't feel like there was really anything more to do... I had been playing Minecraft for a while at this point... So when I gave up on programming I discovered redstone( well more of the computer part of it ) and decided to mess with it. I went from the basics to building ALUs(I STILL haven't built a computer yet... That's what I plan to do here Big Grin). And after a while of being so FASCINATED by these redstone computers, I stopped. I decided to figure out WHY I loved it so much... And after some thought(probably 5 minutes xD) I figured out it was because it explains EVERYTHING. It is SO similar to everyday IRL computers that I fell in love... I love redstone because it explains how computers IRL work. And since I can't exactly build my own computer (I'm broke) I use redstone instead. And THIS allows me to tinker around with computers... So to me it's amazing!

**NOTES: I'm sorry if this wasn't needed. I felt like I had to tell the story for you to fully see my point. And I'm sorry for any bad grammar.

What's a thing you have made which demonstrates redstone knowledge?:

I made an 8 bit ALU. The reason I think this demonstrates my redstone knowledge is because the carry logic uses a special kind of CLA (CARRY LOOK AHEAD). It was originally built as an adder... Not any adder but a KSA... Or a Kogge Stone Adder... If you can find me a good tutorial, that I could have POSSIBLY copied please go right ahead and do so. This was one of the most VAGUE tutorial topics yet. But yet I found something that I could follow and learn from.. This something, was Wikipedia. I had to relearn CLA and Brent-Kung cells to build this. -.-

What does the thing do?:

It Subtracts and Adds in binary... AMAZING ISN'T IT?! :O

Do you agree with the rules?: Yes, of course

*Note: Is it alright if I build a 4 bit KSA for the trial? I'll, of course, add the subtracting part too.
