From Noob to greatgamer34 - greatgamer34 - 03-27-2014 This is probably going to be pretty lengthy but here it goes! My name is Alex, currently I am 17 years old. I live in very rural New York. I come from a poor family, and I am the first in my Immediate family to be going to college. http://imgur.com/U79oWN4,zVOJ5DK http://imgur.com/U79oWN4,zVOJ5DK#1 (I'm in the green) When I first experienced Minecraft at my friends house, i immediately said "This is dumb! Every thing is pixelated". When he left to go to the bathroom, I began to play, and I couldn't stop. (I believe this is everybody's first experience) I got into redstone from well, TBH, i have no idea. One day i decided to make a 7 seg display. ( Each segment was made up of 2 torches, at the time, i didn't know i could connect them, so i really had a 14 seg display) I had no idea what an encoder was so it was massive and slow! My second invention before i learned binary was a RNG. I saw a design and immediately changed it to be able to work how needed it. I decoded every value (not in binary, so the Decoder was massive for 5 bits or something like that). Here's the link, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WxuVV9kq9gc Basically If i wanted to make the number 3. Only 3 lights could be on, IN ANY PATTERN! This is the start of my semi-successful and growing YouTube channel. Also in the near future i ws featured by WeSauce, a daughter channel of Vsauce for a crappy CPU I made! WeSauce-> (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=89cydmb3NOk) After this i made a Base 10 adder, which was a huge set of And gates bussed to displays. Slow it was, but it was my first adder. After that screw up, I decided to get into computers. I researched for days on end and was constantly on Newegg learning what parts matched with what. Eventually I began to build custom PC's for people. About 6 PC's in total now, with 2 more jobs lined up ATM. I figured "Hey, if I'm going to build them IRL, I should know how they work". So I began following Benny's tutorials. I kept thinking "How the hell am i going to ever be that smart". Looking back, wow, just wow. I saw that He played on the RDF, so i looked around his plot and was further impressed. In one of Benny's videos, he mentions Guy1234567890. This is when I became acquainted with ORE. Also somewhere in this time period I learned Binary. On one of guys videos, he posted the link to this server. I HAD to check it out. At the time, I had no idea how to make an ALU. I was on school and learned on ICA on my own (at the time this was a huge achievement- now I cant stand pistons). I then was confident enough to trial on ORE and I made an APP (here it is) http://forum.openredstone.org/showthread.php?tid=429 Wow i was nub. Guy actually ended up "teaching" me how to build an ALU on my ICA that I made for My trial because the only line i was missing was the OR line. He thought I had potential. So I joined ORE as a nub. Now I'm a smaller nub. But wait there's more! So because of Minecraft i decided i want to enter the field of computer engineering. Wow IKR a video game interested me so much. I applied to 4 schools and was accepted to 3. Because of my merit i received a $14,000 Scholarship and I decided I'm going to SUNYIT in Utica NY. Recently I was reading Wiki and I figured out Bresenhams all on my own. Its a terrific feeling when you figure things out for yourself. As a career, I want to work Directly for a company such as Intel, AMD, or nVidia designing chips for a living. Congrats, you have made it all the way through this! (I'm sorry) RE: Greatgamer34 - Dcentrics - 03-27-2014 quq RE: Greatgamer34 - superquinn - 03-28-2014 You, sir, are a boss RE: Greatgamer34 - greatgamer34 - 03-29-2014 Lmao why? |
