Lack of people interested - Xray_Doc - 03-02-2014 I noticed recently on the server that when many people join, they immediately ask for a plot or how to build. When we trll them they have to apply on the forums, many choose to leave and call the server terrible. Is there a way we can advertise more that you need to apply to build, like an announcement when you join? Or maybe advertise school more and make the application process there (since it doesn't need pictures) in game. I feel we have lost many potential members due to them being uninformed of how to apply and what kind of redstone we build on here. If any posts are off topic I would like an admin to remove them. RE: Lack of people interested - Iceglade - 03-02-2014 But the problem is they don't want to apply. We can shove it down their throats all we want, it doesn't in any way change the fact that they aren't willing to put in the work. The general community excepts servers to all be like redstoner.com or XPD where they can just type /pclaim. And those servers have no community, just an endless puddle of noobs spamming. People who aren't commited enough to spend 20 minutes writing an application are not worth compromising the community air that we have on the server. RE: Lack of people interested - Xray_Doc - 03-02-2014 But finding the information for people who do want to apply can be challenging. Also, many new people are not aware of the school server. RE: Lack of people interested - redstonewarrior - 03-02-2014 Most serious comp. redstoners are already on ORE. As we gain popularity, we get more exposure, but our perceived standards increase as we have a larger available group of newcomers. (Correlating interest and existing skill.) RE: Lack of people interested - Legofreak - 03-03-2014 When I first found this place I didn't even try applying because of the risk of failure. Some of the standards seem high. I also didn't want to join the school server because I didn't really understand how lessons would take place. But "Some of the standards seem high"? I would argue that their really low! (srsly) RE: Lack of people interested - Legofreak - 03-05-2014 i was kinda surprised i passed my test the first try. it was just encoding and decoding 4 bits with comparators and some comparator memory manipulation. i had limited knowledge of digital logic at the time. i had only made an adder once before but i followed a logic diagram. it was huge. it was for a final presentation in an electronics class.
