What's the point of having a base u can't even use due to lag? None... none whatsoever...

Capo is right. The server is being stressed far too much with this pack. Much of the build lag is caused by this pack.

RE: Modded Lag... - Alex - 07-19-2017

Is it possible we could get the next pack on expert mode? These packs on normal mode are really not that difficult, and expert mode is very hard (that is the point) but will make the game much more playable for a longer amount of time. This stops people from being able to blow through the pack (me). Modpacks are probably the way to go just so everything is compatible and just would be more simple. FTB Beyond contains mods such as "Tech Reborn" which are just broken down to the core, and is a bit laggy. Infinity Lite is a watered down pack that is missing a lot of mods, and offers no expert mode just like Beyond even though that has bigger issues. FTB infinity is a 1.7 pack I was thinking a pack like "All the Mods" which seems to be pretty sick and it has expert mode. (http://allthepacks.com/atm-expert/)

RE: Modded Lag... - Digitalis - 07-19-2017

IMO if taking down modded is *truly* necessary then I vote that we do a much more lightweight custom ORE modpack, even if you decide to base it on a premade modpack.

My votes for optimization mods to be included, regardless of contents:
-FastCraft [1.7] (Better rendering system) https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/fastcraft?gameCategorySlug=mc-mods&projectID=242677
-BetterFps [1.7/1.8/1.9/1.10/1.11/1.12] (Improved math stuffs & rendering) https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/betterfps/files
-FoamFix [1.8/1.10/1.11/1.12] (Reduces heap memory usage, less lagspikes. WARNING: dank af website made using crayons) http://asie.pl/Projects/Minecraft/Mods/FoamFix/
-Tick Dynamic [1.10/1.11/1.12] (Throttles server tickrate to improve performance.) https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/tick-dynamic?gameCategorySlug=mc-mods&projectID=269359

My votes for computing/redstone mods:
-OpenComputers [1.7/1.8/1.9/1.10/1.11] (Adds bash-like lua-programmed computers.) https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/opencomputers?gameCategorySlug=mc-mods&projectID=223008
-TIS-3D [1.7/1.8/1.9/1.10/1.11/1.12] (Adds TIS-100-like modular programmable "cases") https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/tis-3d?gameCategorySlug=mc-mods&projectID=238603

My votes for food/worldgen mods:
-Rustic [1.10/1.11/1.12] (Adds balanced vanilla-styled foods and furniture stuff.) https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/rustic?gameCategorySlug=mc-mods&projectID=256141
-Quark [1.9/1.10/1.11/1.12] (Adds some nice vanilla tweaks and blocks.) https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/quark

My votes for tech mods:
-Botania [1.7/1.10/1.11] (I don't think I need to explain this one.) https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/botania?gameCategorySlug=mc-mods&projectID=225643
-Immersive Engineering [1.7/1.10/1.11/1.12] (Another popular one that doesn't need explaining.) https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/immersive-engineering?gameCategorySlug=mc-mods&projectID=231951
-Immersive Petroleum [1.10/1.11/1.12] (Fuel processing stuff for IE.) https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/immersive-petroleum?gameCategorySlug=mc-mods&projectID=268250
-Embers [1.10/1.11/1.12] (A new dwarven-themed magitech mod.) https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/embers?gameCategorySlug=mc-mods&projectID=251918

My votes for magic mods:
-Roots [1.9/1.10/1.11/1.12] (A new magic mod with the same theme as botania, but actual magic.) https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/roots?gameCategorySlug=mc-mods&projectID=246183
-Astral Sorcery [1.10/1.11/1.12] (A new thaumcraft/am2-ish magic mod. Might be worth a try.) https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/astral-sorcery?gameCategorySlug=mc-mods&projectID=241721
-Ars Magica 2 [1.7/1.10] (Reasons for including obvious, but you may not have known it exists for 1.10!) https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/ars-magica-2

My votes for aesthetics mods:
-Chisel n Bits [1.8/1.9/1.10/1.11] (Adds microblock-ish-things.) https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/chisels-bits?gameCategorySlug=mc-mods&projectID=231095
-Carpenters Blocks [1.7] (Adds "paintable" blocks of different shapes.) https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/carpenters-blocks?gameCategorySlug=mc-mods&projectID=228932
-Hardcore Darkness [1.7/1.8/1.9/1.10/1.11/1.12] (Makes minecraft's darkness truly dark.) https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/hardcore-darkness?gameCategorySlug=mc-mods&projectID=225957

My votes for mods to re-evaluate:
-Psi [1.8/1.9/1.10/1.11/1.12] (Adds programmable guns that can give an extreme early-game edge and have some broken spell combinations. I love this mod, but I accept that it is OP.) https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/psi?gameCategorySlug=mc-mods&projectID=241665

My votes for mods to keep *out* of the pack no matter what:
-Draconic Evolution (OP as fuck, dwarfs all other PvP options, basically makes user immortal. Not much needs explaining.)

RE: Modded Lag... - LambdaPI - 07-19-2017

I vote for any pack that is light so it can run on my potato. Maybe applied energistics 2? (Adding to lost above)

*long post*

Problem with this is the pack is going to get stale very quickly.

Expert mode could help the lag too, because it won't be possible for everybody to have a ton of resources and could end up lagging the server because resources can't just be automatically pulled out of the ground at an insane rate 5 hours into playing.

RE: Modded Lag... - Digitalis - 07-19-2017

I didn't suggest any quarrying mods. What I was proposing was more of a creativity-based pack that focused on redstone and computing stuff. Regardless of what pack you guys choose, I stand by my choices of the optimization mods; they would help reduce the lag a ton.

Additionally, I hope my post didn't seem as though it was meant to be the *entire* modpack, those were just suggestions for capo's "custom pack" idea.

I think the best option is to take an expert-level pack like you said, then add on OpenComputers/TIS-3D and those optimization mods.

Seems like a decent idea.

The pack I proposed already includes from your suggestions:
Open Computers
Quark
Roots
Chisel & Bits
Hardcore Darkness
PSI (Re-balanced like everything in expert)
Immersive Engineering
Botania
Embers

Possible downside for you is it also includes Draconic Evolution, but it is expert mode so I don't even want to know how impossible that mod is going to be.

RE: Modded Lag... - Digitalis - 07-19-2017

If it's going to be a modified version of a pack that already exists we could just remove DE and add those optimization mods and call it a day.

Not even sure if removing DE is necessary, considering how insanely difficult its going to be to get.

But yeah this seems like a good option tho, if people really want DE gone I mean that is fine with me but in expert it is much more balanced.

If anybody can find another pack that seems to be complete and also includes expert mode for version 1.10, please post it.
