~!ELECTIONS SPRING 2017 NONIMEE ACCEPTANCE!~ - LordDecapo - 05-15-2017

***everyone has now accepted, the rest of this week will give people time to evaluate the nominees and learn more about them so they can vote more informativly.***

So it appears as though we have 6 nominees for mod.
Each of these individuals need to reply to this post with a couple sentences explaining that they accept and why they believe they would be a good staff.
Please put some thought into this.

This thread will remain up and open until this Friday 5/19/17 at midnight EST.  Voting will begin the following day.
The gap in time for this, I hope, will let the community really look into the individuals and give them a chance to see what kinda mod these 6 would be.

RE: ~!ELECTIONS SPRING 2017 NONIMEE ACCEPTANCE!~ - Neogreenyew - 05-15-2017

I accept my proposal for the leadership role of Mod on this server.

I thank you all for giving me a second chance in this community and I believe that as a Mod I will be able to further improve the overall atmosphere across all of our servers.

In the four years that I have been a member on this server, I've seen a great deal of changes made to its infrastructure. With me as a mod, these improvements will come at greater speed.

One of the problems that our server faces is that many very new or inexperienced students simply aren't given the materials needed to learn binary and boolean logic at their own pace. In order to remedy this, I plan to made adjustments to the trial procedures and all of the steps leading up to trials. My end goal is to make education and trials partially automated in order to speed up our recruiting. This in turn will make our think-tank style environment larger which of course will help to make our top end builds even more efficient. These changes will also help to relieve pressure from the admins so that they can continue on their own work without being interrupted. Of course, since this system will not be fully automated, I will still be available for trials that meet up to our ever growing community expectations for new members.

Along with this, I will be responsible with kicks/bans in order to uphold a proactive environment on the server. As always, personal emotion is completely out of the picture when it comes to these. As the saying goes, keep your work and personal life separated.

Finally, I will help us maintain a good relationship with the other big redstone servers. Members that go to other servers to troll will not be dealt with lightly. In any community that I've been in, problems between communities always make for a bad environment.

As always, my job as a mod will be taken professionally at all times.

Thank you for giving me this opportunity to make ORE a well oiled machine.

A vote for Neo is a vote for the future.

I accept. It warms my heart to see a community that I pride so much nominate me Big Grin

As most of you know I've been around here for quite some time (4 years), I feel that it's my turn to give back to this family. I've always loved ORE and thought of it as a such and I want to help extend that out to others. I promise to take any staff or otherwise role with the care and attention it deserves. I ask similarly of you.

Some of the things that I want to help with include:
1. Trials, I love to watch and participate in trials, I will not attempt to avoid trials. If people need them I will come. I'm always available for assistance on discord
2. hosting, I have a nice powerful server rack ready for use. 2x duel xeon rigs and 2x single xeon rigs. All this on 100Mb/s download and 10Mb/s upload
3. Representing the general voice of ORE. I want to help represent ore members to the staff team to better improve us as a whole. Like I said, always available on discord.

RE: ~!ELECTIONS SPRING 2017 NONIMEE ACCEPTANCE!~ - Koyarno - 05-15-2017

Accepted! Many thanks for the nomination. I may not be the most fun person around but i sure do want to help the newcomers and Pauk especially since he does most trials around my time.

So some of my viewpoints:
1. I will trial whenever i can but i do keep a policy of not trialing the ones i taught. I helped out some of the junior mods with their trials and i do not find it boring at all.
2. Help out with the lack of new teachers trialing. This is more than just a simple problem to be solved. Like providing a better learning roadmap or more incentives for existing teachers.
3. I'm always for a reasonable approach when it comes to banning or approving. With the community or without.
4. Finally finish the KPC kernel.

RE: ~!ELECTIONS SPRING 2017 NONIMEE ACCEPTANCE!~ - popwser - 05-16-2017

First off, I wanna thank CrazyGuy108 for the nomination
I accept the nomination, my Minecraft name is michaelbuerger by the way (popwser is my old account before Mojang screwed me)

I have been a part of this community since the summer of 2013 a bit after O.R.E. became a thing, ever since then I have worked my way to builder and have noticed some problems:
-There are never any admins on! (besides AFK LordDecapo)
I hope to become an admin one day and be on as much as possible, so this problem may be solved.
-There are never any mods on either!
So many students cycle through the servers, waiting to be accepted, waiting to trial and needing assistance.
I promise to be on during the weekends with all the time I can, and most of the weekdays too. So if anyone needs trailing, a student needs to be accepted, or there is some problem a moderator can solve. I'll be there Smile

My past experience:
Because I have been on this server, playing for a very long time, I understand the rules extensively.
And, at my school for two years I have been a part of a team of IT "specialists", fixing things around the school, specifically computer related issues (I like fixing things, like broken server government due to the server hosts getting too much power)

Please consider everything you see and vote MICHAELBUERGER (and Koyarno)

  Good luck, everyone.

I also must mention my great Photoshop skills:

Holy shit you guys are putting effort into your acceptance posts

RE: ~!ELECTIONS SPRING 2017 NONIMEE ACCEPTANCE!~ - Trecar - 05-16-2017

I accept! I feel very honored to be nominated for a staff position by this awesome community.

I am usually active from 7 pm CEST/CET onwards and would be able to accept applications and trial people besides dealing with blatant violations of the rules and, most importantly, conducting nickname changes when desired.
With this position also comes a lot of responsibility, especially when it comes to banning people. I promise to handle these tough decisions with care.

As for the general direction ORE is heading, I am quite happy with the way everything is working out and new builders keep pouring in. To me, the main thing school lacks is the time of teachers, which is absolutely understandable as this is a hobby and no full-time job. A good way of improving education could be selecting good youtube videos for specific topics, which students could refer to as a general introduction and then directly dive into more specific questions both teachers and builders could answer.
As we already have a Tutorial subforum, we should promote it to students (more).

Trial-wise I would keep the standard of accepting well-explained RCA(and up)-ALUs with 2s Comp knowledge (Used to explain substraction). While I would like students to know a bit about how to build a CPU and that there are better adders, I would not require it.

I am a fan of networking things like intOREnet, but it should not noticeably negatively impact server performance especially towards people who do not want to use it.

As I am, compared to others, a rather new member, I am always open for a chat if you want to get to know me more. General rule is, if I am on the server, you can call me in discord (Same name).

If You want me to be your Mod, I'll proudly oblige!
